1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer in her lifetime. Early detection is the best way to protect moms against breast cancer.
Mammogram Screening Guidelines:
- Women age 40-44 - After consultation with your health care provider
- Women age 45 – 54 – Every year starting at age 45
- Women age 55+ - Every 2 years (or every year if a woman chooses to do so) for as long as a woman is in good health.
Why Choose a 3D Mammogram?
As technology continues to advance, many health care providers are now offering 3D mammography.
3D mammography is an excellent choice for any woman who needs a breast screening, however, if you are a woman with dense breast tissue, the 3D mammogram is especially beneficial because it provides a clearer picture and allows your doctor to detect cancers at their earliest stage. In addition, 3D mammography helps doctors to visualize the cancer size much better than can typically be seen on a regular mammogram and drastically reduces the chances of doctor diagnosing a false positive.
About 3D Mammography
3D Mammography,
What Makes It Different?

The Most Accurate Detection

Sometimes, especially with 2D mammography, something shows up that alerts a doctor, and after weeks of worry, the patient learns it’s a false alarm. 3D mammograms are extremely accurate and help doctors to reduce these false alarms. Abnormal structures seen within a 3D view of the breast are more easily defined by the doctors, greatly lowering the amount of false alarms and unnecessary callbacks to women for further testing, scans and biopsies.
An Early Diagnosis

Capturing Mom Moments
I never missed a mammogram, and that’s why I’m enjoying these moments today. When a cyst grew into a cancer, my doctors at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham quickly diagnosed the cancer and provided me with treatment options. Because of early detection and dedicated doctors, I beat cancer!
My first mammogram changed my life. At 40 years young, I calmly went in for my first mammogram at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. Eight years later, I am a stage 3 breast cancer survivor, thanks to early detection. Because of my mammogram, I get to have an amazing moment with my son at his high school graduation.
My daughter needs moments like this. That’s why I’m getting my first mammogram this year. In order to protect her, I have to protect myself. Having expert doctors and innovative technology close to home will allow me to be sure that I am always in the picture.
You never know when a moment like this will come along, and I’m going to make sure that I’m there for as many of them as possible. As life moves on, I'll continue to perform self-breast exams regularly and never miss a mammogram. I know that taking a minute for me means that I’ve got a million more to give to her.
She wants to be just like me. That means everything to me, so I’m going to set the example for her when it comes to taking care of her body. If you are over 40, it’s never too soon for your first mammogram. Moments like these won’t last forever, but I can be there for them much longer through early breast cancer screenings and mammograms.
We look forward to talking with you.
